On May 14th, the first episode aired on Fox. On July 23, 2015, the first season concluded and the show premiered. The series began with season two on December 9, 2015. The target date for completion was set on July 27 of this year. The second season did not do as well critically as the first, and now that it is concluded, the show’s creators have stated the narrative accomplished nothing. It’s not a good time to receive projections for a project right now. So far, Wayward Pines has not been cancelled by the FOX Channel. Wayward Pines was originally intended to run for just one season, but the show’s popularity ensured its return for a second round. As a result of the show’s premise, Season 2 features a new protagonist called Theo (Jason Patric). The second season bombed, and despite leaving viewers hanging, the third season was not greenlit. We explain why Season 3 of Wayward Pines was cancelled below.
Season 3 of Wayward Pines is Set to Premiere on.
On May 14 Fox aired the first episode of their new programme. The first episode of Season 1 aired on July 23, 2015. Returning for a second season on December 9, 2015, the show had its premiere. On July 27, this year, completion was expected.
Although the story virtually didn’t disclose anything about the resume, the second season did not do as well critically. Now that the second season is complete, it’s not a good moment to start collecting forecasts for future projects. Therefore, FOX does not have anything to say about the cancellation of Wayward Pines.
Plot of Season 3 of Wayward Pines
Season 2 of Wayward Pines was met with scathing criticism and low viewership. The last scene suggested that the programme may start again with a fresh group of characters. The third season of Wayward Pines is now available, even though the series finale aired in 2016. There has been no cancellation announcement since then, and there likely won’t be. Fox president David Madden indicated in 2017 that he will be meeting with M. Knight and Shyamalan to discuss the third season’s direction, thus that was the last time he provided an update.
There has been radio silence on Wayward Pines Season 3 since then. Fans accepted the end of Wayward Pines when an insider disclosed the programme was cancelled without ever admitting as much. Season 3 of Wayward Pines may have continued to investigate the loose ends left by Season 2, but the programme was designed as a limited series and so benefited most from that structure.
Season 3 of Wayward Pines’ Storyline
The first season of Wayward Pines takes place in a post-apocalyptic world, which is a striking departure from the norm. A city where children have been kept in suspended animation for over a millennium. Abbies are wild humans who have degenerated into barbaric beings as a result of human society’s loosening of social norms. After sacrificing himself to prevent an Abby assault on humanity, Season 1 concluded with the orphans being returned to cryogenic sleep.

One other survivor, Kelly, takes the injection and leaves the city to make the ultimate sacrifice. When Was the Show Cancelled and Why?
Low viewership towards the end of Season 2 was a major factor in the decision to discontinue Wayward Pines. Yet it seems that there are other factors that might have played a role. It was always intended that this would be a short-run series. However, it was brought back for a second season due to the overwhelming success of the first.
However, episodes of Season 1 did not premiere immediately one after another; instead, there was a considerable time lapse between them. That’s why some of the show’s original cast members couldn’t come back for season two. There must also be an intervening period of time in order to accommodate the new cast of characters. Creators were already under a lot of pressure since the first season adapted all three books in Blake Crouch’s trilogy.
